Pleasure boat licence: Carlisle
In Carlisle, pleasure boat licences apply to boats operating at specific locations.
Boats are currently available to hire at:
- Talkin Tarn (near Brampton)
- Hammonds Park
Both the boats and the people hiring them out must be licensed.
Type of licence
There are two types of Boatman’s Licence:
- full licence - for operating and navigating boats on the water
- restricted licence - for managing boats hired from the pier or shore
Requirements
To operate, you must:
- have public liability insurance
- make sure boats are inspected each year by a council-appointed surveyor
