Putting the finishing touches to the Boardwalk

The finishing touches are being completed at Maryport’s new Boardwalk on Thursday 14 and 15 March 2024.

The large seating blocks are being bracketed into place and the woodwork which surrounds the structure given an additional coat of protective oil to ensure everything looks its best for the summer season

Bakehouse, Maryport - work set to start on fire damaged building

Repair work to a fire damaged building in Maryport will get underway this week.

The work on the Bakehouse on Senhouse Street will be undertaken by Cumberland Council after the property owners failed to comply with a Court Order instructing them to do the works.

Planning application being prepared for new Cumberland Sports Village

The project to build a new Cumberland Sports Village has taken a significant step forward with the release of funds to allow the creation of a full planning application for the scheme.

Cumberland Council has agreed the release of grant funding worth £235,000 as part of the Workington Town Deal.

Cumberland Council has confirmed to the owner of the Old Courthouse building in Cockermouth that they will complete the urgent works on the building and will pursue him to recoup the costs.

Improvement works to the open space at Maryport’s Promenade will get underway on Friday 8 March.

End of life railings in the Sea Brow Gardens will be replaced with upgraded galvanised railings and will ensure the safety of members of the public using the paths.
