Cumberland Council’s Workington day services based at Carlton Road have collaborated with a local bowling club to build local community connections for adults with learning disabilities supported through the service.

Cumberland’s Youth Justice Plan approved

Plans have been approved in Cumberland Council’s Executive meeting today outlining how the Youth Justice service will build on their successful work tackling criminal behaviour. The plan will now go for approval to the Youth Justice Board.

Update on Thirlmere road closure

Following Storm Arwen in November 2021, the U7003 along the western shore of Thirlmere had a road restriction that was implemented on an emergency basis under a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order, due to fallen trees, significant rockfall and debris on the highway. This made the road hazardous to all users. Damage was caused to adjacent land, known as Rough Crag, which is the responsibility of United Utilities, as the landowners.

Stage set for Dragonfly drama’s return

The Dragonfly drama group have announced their latest production will be Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. This fantastic free performance, taking place at Morton Manor Community Centre, Carlisle on Thursday 14 September at 1pm, promises to transport audiences into a world of magic, music, mischief and love.
