About this opportunity

This is an exciting time to join Cumberland Council’s Organisational Development and Training (OD&T) Team as the organisation moves towards transformation and change.  It is an opportunity to build on your career within organisational development.

We are looking for someone to join us who embraces the values of Cumberland Council and can demonstrate those at interview.

As a corporate enabling function we work with teams across all directorates, from highways to social care, to determine their learning needs, provide professional advice on learning solutions, procure and deliver high quality learning interventions using both traditional and technology based methods.

Due to an internal move of expertise to fill a post not recruited to, we require an experienced Training Partner to join our Organisational Development and Training (OD&T) team to support the learning and development needs of teams in the Children and Family Wellbeing directorate, which is an Ofsted insepcted service and the Public Health and Communities directorate.  We are looking for innovative approaches to learning and to build solid working relationships in supporting the directorate as it moves through transformation and change.

What the team says:

‘Everyone supports each other and the work is varied and interesting.’

‘I feel empowered to try new ways of doing things to support the development needs of the workforce’.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have experience of training needs analysis and formulating training plans, working within budgets, adopting a strength and evidenced based approach, ideally taking an organisational development view on all training interventions. This will require the ability to work with MS office packages, in particular MS Teams and Excel.

Building strong working relationships both within the team and the services you support is essential. The ability to engage and develop links with those in management and senior roles within the organisation is key to being successful.

You will offer professional advice on learning interventions and development opportunities and look for innovative ways to deliver training using alternative methods. The ideal candidate will also need to be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.

As Training Partner, you will have line management responsibilities, so understanding how to support, coach and mentor people will be crucial in ensuring priorities are achieved. If you are solution focused, proactive with an inventive approach then this is the job for you.
