Community information
The Tour de France Grand Départ is an opportunity for communities, residents and businesses across Cumberland to get involved and help showcase the area to a global audience.
We will be working with communities along the route between now and July 2027 to help people learn more about the event and make the most of the opportunities it brings.
Drop-in engagement events will take place later this year.

Community involvement
Communities, businesses, towns and villages can play an important role in welcoming the Tour de France Grand Départ to Cumberland.
The 2014 Grand Départ in Yorkshire showed how local communities came together by organising activities, decorating streets and supporting visitors during the event.
Find out how communities can get involved through the JOY Social Impact Programme.
Get cycling
Major sporting events such as the Tour de France can encourage more people to cycle and enjoy the benefits of being active.
Cycling can help reduce car journeys and support physical and mental wellbeing.
Find out how to start cycling on the Cumbria Travel Actively website.
You can also learn more about the benefits of cycling and keeping active on the Active Cumbria website.
