About this opportunity

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join Cumberland Council’s Planning Policy team, which plays a key role in shaping the future of the area through the development and delivery of the Local Plan and other planning policy documents. These documents form the statutory framework for making planning decisions and support the Council’s wider objectives around health, growth, housing, the environment, and infrastructure.

 

In this role, you will provide professional planning advice, expertise and support across all aspects of the planning policy function of the Council with particular emphasis on the production of the Cumberland Local Plan.  In particular to take responsibility for, drafting policy, site assessments and supporting the procurement and management of external commissions.  You will also prepare background papers for Members and for the Local Plan Examination

 

You will work corporately and with external partners to ensure that the Council’s planning policies contribute to the priorities of the community and the Council, as well as with Development Management colleagues to provide effective pre-application and master planning input with developers.

 

This role is available on a permanent basis.

Purpose of the role

To provide individual support and care to people who have a learning disability, physical disability and / or mental health problems in a day service / community setting.

 

Promoting service user emotional and physical well-being and to encourage the development of individual potential, based on the identified individual needs of the user.

 

Duties:

  • Care Programme To be actively involved in the process of care programme development and coordinate as appropriate personal information to ensure that a programme of care meets the individual needs of the user.
  • Personal Care To provide personal care as required by individual service users within the context of everyone care programme and ensure personal care needs are met with dignity and respect.
  • Link Worker Under direction and with the support of the senior support worker act as link worker to service users to enable the implementation of a programme of care and support and where possible encourage users to a greater achievement and independence.
  • Records and Administration Maintenance of accurate and meaningful service user records as required by the manager, regarding the care and development of service users.
  • Activities Under guidance, assist and promote personal development through enabling service users to access a variety of activities that are appropriate to meet individual needs of the user both within the day service and wider community.

About this opportunity

 

Cumberland Council is seeking to appoint a dedicated Planning Officer – Minerals and Waste to join their planning team. You will assess minerals and waste planning applications, monitor compliance with planning conditions and contribute to the development of minerals and waste polices. The role offers a great opportunity to shape sustainable development and economic growth across Cumberland.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and process minerals and waste planning applications in line with local planning policies.
  • Provide expert advice on minerals and waste planning
  • Build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other regulators and environmental organisations as well as the industry and local communities.
  • Assist in preparation and review of mineral and waste planning policies.
  • Respond to planning inquiries, appeals and preparing documents to present evidence where required.
