Cumberland Council is pleased to share that works to improve the Howrah Footpath in Keswick were completed several weeks ago, with the upgraded route already being enjoyed by residents and visitors as an asset to the town.
Cumberland Council has announced that Waberthwaite Church of England School has once again taken first place in the Cumberland Schools’ Battery Recycling Competition, making it back-to-back wins in the initiative’s second year.
All schoolchildren aged up to 16 years old from the Cumberland area will be able to go for a swim in a choice of five indoor pools for only 10p over the May school holidays (25 - 29 May 2026).
Barbara Herridge, part of the council’s hosted waste disposal team was named Local Authority Individual or Team of the Year against 10 other finalists at the 2026 Awards for Excellence in Waste and Recycling. It was in recognition of her exceptional contribution to environmental awareness and sustainability across Cumbria.
