About this opportunity

Cumbria is investing in its future – and that future starts with our young people.

We’re committed to building a stronger, more resilient local economy, and ensuring that every young person can access the opportunities they need to thrive. Central to this ambition is the work of the Cumbria Careers Hub – and that’s where you come in.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Careers and Enterprise Coordinator to play a key role in developing high-quality careers education across the county. Working as part of the Careers Hub team, you’ll help schools and colleges strengthen their careers programmes, build meaningful employer partnerships, and support young people in finding their best next step.

You’ll collaborate with educators, employers and local partners to bridge the gap between education and the world of work – helping to tackle skills shortages and ensure our future workforce is well-prepared and well-informed.

This is a varied and rewarding role, ideally suited to someone who’s passionate about making a difference, comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders, and keen to help shape the future of careers education in Cumbria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong working relationships with schools, colleges and employers across the region.
  • Lead the local delivery of the Enterprise Adviser Network, supporting connections between business leaders and education providers.
  • Support schools and colleges to evaluate and improve their careers provision using national tools such as Compass, Future Skills Questionnaire, and the Careers Impact System (training will be provided).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure careers education reflects local skills priorities and opportunities.
  • Monitor data and progress to inform targeted interventions where they’re most needed.
  • Help raise the profile of careers education through local engagement and partnership work.
  • Share best practice and contribute to the wider Careers Hub strategy and delivery.

This role is available on a fixed-term basis and is part-time (3 or 3.5 days per week).

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for individuals who embody our organisation's core values: ambitious, collaborative, compassionate, empowering, and innovative. We believe in the power of these values to drive positive change, deliver excellent public services and shape a better future for our communities.

We’re also about potential over perfection and we can help you grow in the role and thrive in your career.
