Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Maths

HLTA - Maths Department

37 hours per week, term time only


Required from April 2024: A Higher-Level Teaching Assistant for the Mathematics Department at The Nelson Thomlinson School. The post will involve directed time with pupils and associated planning and assessment. Applicants must hold the HLTA accredited status or QTS.

Suitably experienced candidates will have the opportunity to teach a class for a small number of hours per week.
 

In line with the government’s Pupil Premium initiative, we are seeking an HLTA with a particular focus on helping pupils on Free School Meals.

Key responsibilities of the post

  • To fulfil the HLTA standards to support teaching and learning (see https://hlta.org.uk/hlta-standards/ )
  • Plan, prepare and deliver specified work to individuals, small groups or, for whole classes, modifying and adapting activities as necessary under the direction and supervision of a teacher.
  • Assess, record, monitor and report on pupil development, progress and attainment. 
  • Have knowledge of and comply with all school policies and procedures including code of conduct, child protection, health and safety including risk assessments, security, confidentiality and data protection reporting any issues to a nominated person.
  • Share information about pupils with other staff, parents/carers, internal and external agencies attending and contributing to meetings, reviews and IEPs and writing reports as appropriate.

The Governors of Black Combe School wish to appoint an organised and effective administrator as Clerk to the Governing Body.  The Clerk is an integral part of the school’s support team and makes an important contribution to the success and effectiveness of governance at school.

The successful candidate will be required to work term time with variable hours to include daytime and evenings.  The post will involve clerking approximately two early evening meetings per term, a total of 6 over the year.  There may be the need to clerk additional meetings depending on emerging needs. These will be discussed and agreed with the Clerk in advance.

  • Administer meetings and produce high quality paperwork to agreed timescales
