A Level 3 Food Hygiene certificate is essential for this role (or the willingness to work towards it) along with catering experience. Experience of working in a school kitchen is desirable.

Outline of Main Duties

Plan and prepare cook and serve school meals, whilst at the same time meeting the highest standards of hygiene and cater to a variety of dietary requirements.

Develop systems of operation that make the most efficient use of human and material resources.

Assess and select the most appropriate menus providing tasty and nutritious meals within nutritional and dietary guidelines.

Ensure Health and Safety and food hygiene procedures are adhered to at all times and that defects to equipment and premises are reported appropriately to maintain a safe working environment.

Carry out regular checks of kitchen equipment e.g., mixers, fryer, utensils, work surfaces in accordance with specified procedures to ensure all equipment is hygienic and safe working order and complies with relevant regulations.

About the Role 

The Governors of Holm Cultram Abbey C of E Primary School invite applications for this important and diverse role.

The School Business Manager has a central role in supporting and reporting to the Headteacher and governing body to effectively manage the school and its estate. This involves working pro-actively across diverse areas including administration, finance, line management, human resources, payroll, premises management and health & safety. The role also includes delivering a positive front-of-house experience to school visitors, managing administrative and operational work and responding to email and telephone communications from parents, suppliers and other stakeholders. Working within a school environment also means that post-holders may be called upon to administer basic first aid, supervise playtimes or accompany school trips. Having a flexible attitude and a willingness to support the school team in whatever way possible is a key part of the role.

Although prior experience of school operations and financial management would be preferred, it is not essential as these can be learned; we invite applications from candidates who demonstrate an appropriate skillset and a commitment to developing a thorough understanding of school specific aspects of the role through additional training as appropriate.

Core Requirement of the Role:
The school office manager is responsible for overseeing the daily management of administration within the front office. They are also responsible for all administrative and financial transactions regarding pupils’ monies. Admissions and organisational processes within the school whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times. They will assist with all the planning and development of support services. They will also provide assistance to the school’s leadership team, notably the school’s Headteacher/Deputy Headteacher and Organisational Director as well as the Governors within their role as Clerk.

Key Relationships:
This role will require establishing and maintaining robust professional relationships with the school’s parent body and school staff. The role is directly accountable for the responsibilities documented below, although this is not an exhaustive list and the position may require additional accountabilities – through discussion.
