Science Teacher

Teacher Of Science (Full or Part Time 0.8)

At Cumbria Futures Federation we work at the heart of our communities. Our small secondary schools are inclusive, welcoming and ambitious.  With a wide range of abilities in each class, our ‘Good’ schools punch well above their weight and provide a unique experience for our students.

We are seeking a Teacher of Science to join our small and friendly team in April or September 2025.  We positively welcome applications from colleagues at all stages in their career.  We offer a supportive leadership team, a professional research approach to CPD, a strong ethos of pastoral support and extra-curricular learning and opportunities to contribute to ongoing school improvement and leadership.

This role is currently primarily working at Beacon Hill Community School, but may in future years require working across both Solway Community School and Beacon Hill Community School.  You will be teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics across the age and ability range.  As you would expect in small schools with a family ethos, we all pitch in to ensure our students are taught well and supported superbly.

Our small, friendly schools provide excellent opportunities to be involved in school-wide activities as well as the challenge of teaching across the age and ability range.  You will be ambitious and inspirational in the classroom, determined to ensure all learners achieve, whatever their ability.  We will give you excellent support whatever stage you are at in your career, with the freedom to be creative and innovative in the classroom and to take on a breadth of responsibilities that are not always available in larger schools.

If you feel you share our values, then we would like to hear from you.  For an informal conversation about the role and what it is like working for us, please contact the school office to arrange a chat with our Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher.
For additional information and to apply please visit our websites www.solwayschool.co.uk or www.beaconhill.cumbria.sch.uk, or call 016973 31234 or 20509 for an application pack.

Closing date for applications 3rd February 2025.  Interviews will be held that week.

Short-listed candidates will be asked to complete a criminal record self-disclosure form to provide details of all unspent convictions and those that would not be filtered or protected, to be returned to the school prior to the date of the interview.  You may be asked for further information about your criminal history during the recruitment process.  If your application is successful, this criminal record self-disclosure information will be checked against information from the Disclosure & Barring Service before your appointment is confirmed.

In addition to the above, the school reserves the right to carry out an online search on short-listed candidates.  This will only include a search for information which is publicly available online. Please note it is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
