Salary: £38,220 - £39,152 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Dalston Highways Depot, Barras Lane, Dalston, Carlisle, CA5 7NY

About this opportunity

 

We are seeking a motivated Street Lighting Supervisor / Team Leader to manage and supervise teams delivering maintenance, installation, and improvement works across the county’s road lighting, illuminated signs, and associated electrical street furniture.

You will play a key role in ensuring works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, while supporting service delivery in line with the Council’s Road Lighting Management Plan.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate multiple teams delivering street lighting maintenance and installation works.
  • Plan, organise, and monitor work programmes, ensuring compliance with specifications, budgets, and performance targets.
  • Support the Street Lighting Officer in developing and prioritising work programmes.
  • Ensure all works comply with health and safety legislation through risk assessments, audits, and safe systems of work.
  • Order and manage plant, equipment, and materials for programmed and reactive works.
  • Carry out surveys and provide accurate data for asset management systems.
  • Investigate and resolve highway lighting issues, including testing and repairs to lighting networks.
  • Deliver financial awareness by helping control expenditure and resource use.
  • Provide a point of contact for Parish and County Councillors, responding to service requests, enquiries, and complaints.
  • Produce reports, correspondence, and records in line with council procedures.
  • Implement people management processes including performance management, appraisals, and discipline.
  • Participate in winter maintenance and out-of-hours duties as required.

Site Manager

Part Time Site Manager (Full Year) to start as soon as possible.
Hours to be negotiated

OP5(A)  £25,989  per annum , pro rata 
     
We are looking for a Site Supervisor to join our team at Kingmoor Junior School.  The successful candidate will have a positive outlook, be reliable, have practical, hands-on skills, flexible in attitude and able to cope with the varied nature of the role.  They will need to be able to use their initiative, be proactive to the needs of the school, have a good understanding of Health & Safety/COSSH Regulations (training will be provided) and be able to take on small projects as required. In addition you will be responsible for the security of the premises and a key holder.

Hours of work will be discussed at interview.  Please note on your application preferred hours.
