About this opportunity
Join our Public Protection & Housing Team and play a vital role in supporting the delivery of essential public services. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Environmental Health, you will act as team lead for those Officers in the Technical Clerk service and provide a broad range of technical and administrative support to professional officers across Environmental Health and Housing.
As Team Leader, you will support the Service Manager in the day-to-day management of the Technical Clerk Service and lead on essential business functions, such as data management, freedom of information requests, government data submissions, data retention and IT systems for the Environmental Health operational service areas.
This is a varied and hands-on role where you’ll be at the heart of service delivery—handling enquiries, complaints, and applications while providing clear advice to customers through multiple channels. You’ll contribute to the effective management of data and systems, support performance monitoring, and assist with financial processes such as invoicing and payment tracking.
Working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners, you’ll help drive service improvements, support key projects, and ensure accurate information is maintained for internal use and statutory reporting. You’ll also play an important role in keeping services running smoothly by supporting officers and managers as needed.
We’re looking for someone organised, proactive, and detail-focused, with strong communication and IT skills and a commitment to getting things done to a high standard. In return, you’ll gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, public-facing environment where your contribution directly supports community wellbeing.
This role is available on a permanent basis.
We would consider the weekly contractual hours being spread over 4 or 5 days.
