Once you have joined us our friendly and dedicated team will work to find you opportunities with schools and educational establishments across the county and these can be term time contracts or longer-term prospects. Our team will build a supportive relationship with you and work to make sure we find you a position that works.

Joining the Learning Support Service in Cumberland Council offers development flexibility and variety and the opportunity to find positions that suit you. Our service includes positions supporting children with class support/1-1 support severe and complex needs additional/special educational needs.

Special Details:
• Term-time working only
• No minimum set contracted hours (Initially you will be recruited to our supply register but this could soon lead to more regular/contracted work if that is what you are looking for.
• Due to the nature of our busy service typically we would be looking for between 2 - 5 days availability from candidates.
• Applicants need to be contactable by phone and able to at times work at short notice.
• Expected reasonable distance to travel around 15 miles.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with a Children’s Barred List check.

Full Time 8.30 – 3.30 including 1 hour per day paid as a Midday Supervisor Fixed term contract 1 year from 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026.

The Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and compassionate member of staff for a fixed term contract of 1 year in EYFS.  We are a small, caring  and nurturing school on the outskirts of Whitehaven.  You will be a valued part of our school community working within the values of Manners, Respect & Success.  

You will be a caring practitioner with a committment to providing a safe learning environment working on both a 1:1 and small group basis.  The ability to form good relationships with children, parents and other colleagues is essential. You will also support children whilst eating their dinner within the dining hall and keeping them safe whilst they play during lunchtimes.

The successful applicant will be subject to appropriate checks, and will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check and complete a Childcare Disqualification declaration.

The successful candidate should be:
•    A dedicated and caring early years practitioner with a L3 relevant qualification.  
•    Experience of working with pupils who have additional needs.
•    Enthusiastic, flexible and caring; able to work as part of a strong team under the direction of the EYFS leader.
•    Be able to foster strong relationships with parents and colleagues.  
•    Have good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage.  
•    Able to support children within the lunch hour in the dining hall as well as in the playground
