Cumberland Council is looking for a dedicated Welfare Advice Officer to provide confidential, high-quality welfare and benefits advice to residents across the Carlisle locality. You’ll work closely with vulnerable individuals—including the elderly, disabled, and housebound—offering support through face-to-face appointments, home visits, and tribunal representation.

 

We’re seeking someone with strong communication skills, a good understanding of the welfare benefits system, and experience working in advisory roles. You’ll be part of a supportive team committed to preventing hardship and homelessness, with opportunities for training and development. About Supported Living (DMH)

Supported Living empowers vulnerable adults, including people with learning disabilities or complex care needs, to access the personalised support they need to live independently in their own homes in the community. Staff work with individuals to build life skills and are led by the individuals interests and priorities.

 

About the role

As a Community Support Worker (Carer, Care Worker, Care Assistant) you will get the opportunity to know people individually and support their wellbeing through physical and emotional care. You may also assist with medication, providing personal care, and encouraging our people to achieve or maintain independence.

 

No experience or qualifications are needed to get started. We will help and support you with fully paid training and development – we are looking for the right people, with the right qualities.
