Executive Director of Finance (s.73 Officer) - Cumbria Combined Authority

Location: Redhills, Penrith

Salary: up to £131,000

From submarine construction, nuclear decommissioning and advanced engineering, to tourism, food production and the creative arts, Cumbria has long punched above its weight in its contribution to Britain’s security, prosperity and reputation across the world. Today, that contribution matters more than ever. As the home of nationally significant energy, defence, manufacturing and environmental assets, Cumbria is uniquely placed to help deliver the UK’s ambitions for economic growth, energy security, net zero and national resilience.

The new Cumbria Combined Authority has been established to unlock that potential. Working with partners across the county, we are building a long-term vision for growth through our four priority themes: Transport and planning; Skills and employment; Business and innovation; and Community and environment. Together, these form the foundations of Cumbria’s Local Growth Plan, providing a clear roadmap for investment and delivery. By the time Cumbria elects its first Mayor in 2027, we will have established the strategic direction, evidence base and delivery programme needed to maximise Cumbria’s contribution to the nation.

As our Executive Director of Finance (s.73 Officer), you will have an exceptional opportunity to play a leading role in one of the most significant devolution programmes in the country. You will join an ambitious, innovative and collaborative organisation with a strong mandate, clear vision and unwavering commitment to the people and places of Cumbria.

Our ambition, set out in our Going for Growth strategy, is to create a modern, entrepreneurial economy where world-leading sector strengths and an outstanding natural environment drive prosperity for all. For the right individuals, these are career-defining opportunities to help shape the future of a county that powers, protects, feeds and inspires the nation.
