Teacher of Music

Teacher of Music

Full-time, maternity cover,

Required for January 2026, a well-qualified teacher of Music

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate teacher to join our well-established and vibrant Music department. The post is suitable for either an ECT or a teacher with experience. The timetable will predominantly include KS3 teaching though there is the possibility of teaching GCSE and A-Level Music, depending on experience.

The Music department occupies a purpose-built suite of classrooms, equipped to an exceptional standard including keyboards, samba percussion, ukuleles, guitars and has two practice rooms and a drum and guitar band room with electronic drum kit, PA and amplifiers. In addition, we have computers operating with Sibelius Ultimate and FL Studio Producer along with midi keyboards.

The subject is popular with our pupils and there are currently GCSE groups in Years 10 and 11, and A Level Music groups in Years 12 and 13, all following the Eduqas specification. The curriculum is well established and there are numerous resources to support the successful applicant to plan and deliver lessons, along with help from the Head of Department and other full time music teacher. The department also offer a range of extra-curricular activities, which play an important role in life at NTS.

The Nelson Thomlinson School is a high performing secondary school on the fringe of the Lake District in Cumbria. Ofsted’s most recent visit in October 2023 highlighted our strong traditions and a school where pupils (and staff) are proud to live out its values. NTS also has a dedicated Professional Development department where opportunities for staff development and training are made a priority.
