About this opportunity

 

Cumberland Council’s Sensory Impairment Team are seeking to appoint  a Qualified Teacher of Blind/Vision Impaired children and young people (QTVI). The job is a full time, fixed term post for one year to cover a maternity leave, and the successful candidate will be required to start at the earliest possible date. It is a teachers’ main scale post and elligible for SEND points and UPS.

 

The work will cover the whole of Cumberland and there is flexibility to have an office base in either Workington or Carlisle.

 

The successful applicant will work as an integral member of the Cumberland Sensory Impairment Team, alongside Qualified Teachers of the Deaf (QToDs), another QTVI, and Sensory Specialist Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs). The work is peripatetic and provides support to children and young people, schools/settings and families.

 

The successful candidate will be joining an established and forward thinking team. You will have experience of working with Blind/Vision Impaired children and young people (C&YP) and be willing to continue to learn new skills. You will be required to provide support from preschool to post 16 and be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills. A commitment to inclusive education and high aspirations for BVI C&YP in Cumberland is essential.

 

This role is available on a fixed-term basis.

Lorton School is located in the beautiful village of Lorton in the Lake District National Park.
