Teacher of Mathematics

Full time Teacher of Mathematics (will consider part time)

At Cumbria Futures Federation we work at the heart of our communities. Our small secondary schools are inclusive, welcoming and ambitious.  With a wide range of abilities in each class and an innovative curriculum, our ‘Good’ schools punch well above their weight and provide a unique experience for our students.

We are seeking a full-time Teacher to deliver Maths across our Federation.

Ideally you will join our small and friendly team ASAP but we will wait until January 2024 or beyond for the right candidate.  This is a brilliant opportunity for an effective and inspiring teacher to make a real difference to the lives of our students.

This role will be based across the Federation with teaching at both of our schools – Solway Community School in Silloth and Beacon Hill Community School in Aspatria.

Our small, friendly schools provide excellent opportunities to be involved in school-wide activities as well as the challenge of teaching across the age and ability range.

You will be determined and inspirational in the classroom, ensuring all learners achieve, whatever their ability.  As part of our small Maths department, you will deliver excellent lessons as well as contributing to the day to day life of our schools.  As we are small but mighty, you will have the opportunity to be part of activities and to take on responsibilities that are not always available in larger schools.

If you feel you share our values and feel you might be ready to take your next step in teaching, then we would like to hear from you.  We welcome applications from colleagues at all stages in their careers.

For an informal conversation about the role and what it is like working for us, please contact the school office to arrange a chat with our Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher.

For additional information and to apply please visit our websites www.solwayschool.co.uk or www.beaconhill.cumbria.sch.uk or call 016973 31234 or 20509 for an application pack.

Closing date for applications Friday 1st November 2024.

Our schools take safeguarding very seriously.  All posts involving direct contact with children are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and the successful applicant will be required to hold or undergo a suitable enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service disclosure.  However, amendments to the ROA 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020)) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’.  These are not subject to disclosure to employers and cannot be considered.  Guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions and convictions can be found on the Ministry of Justice website or via the Unlock website.

Short-listed candidates will be asked to complete a criminal record self-disclosure form to provide details of all unspent convictions and those that would not be filtered or protected, to be returned to the school prior to the date of the interview.  You may be asked for further information about your criminal history during the recruitment process.

If your application is successful, this criminal record self-disclosure information will be checked against information from the Disclosure & Barring Service before your appointment is confirmed.

In addition to the above, the school reserves the right to carry out an online search on short-listed candidates.  This will only include a search for information which is publicly available online.

Please note it is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
