As Bonfire Night approaches, Cumberland Council’s Trading Standards team is reminding residents to purchase fireworks only from reputable, licensed retailers and to put safety first when celebrating.

Bigger and even better - Taste Cumbria is coming back to Carlisle for the second time this Autumn. Following the success of the first event in 2024, the city will play host to the county’s favourite food and drink festivals on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November 2025.

Cumbria will have a new Mayor-led strategic authority, unlocking substantial additional powers and funding to drive economic regeneration across the county. At meetings today (14 October), both Cumberland and Westmorland and Furness Councils gave their final consent to the Government’s devolution proposals, paving the way for a new era of locally based decision making and opportunity.
